One of Poland’s leading composers Henryk Górecki has died at the age of 76. He sadly passed away on November 12 in Katowice after a long illness.
With a career spanning more than 40 years and a catalogue encompassing over
70 works, Górecki became world-renowned with the phenomenal success of
his third symphony, ’Symphony Of Sorrowful Songs’.
Following this work, the directness and emotional impact of his music
established him as one of the major figures of contemporary music, who
will be greatly missed.
